Got five minutes to spare?
Generally, when outraged, I tend to express the level of passion I am feeling through profanity. I am told that some people find this offensive and others equate it to lack of intelligence sufficient to speak otherwise. Bullshit. I am perfectly capable of enunciating my thoughts free from pejoratives. When a situation arises wherein great injustice is inflicted on the innocent and helpless of my fellows, I just don’t have the patience for it. What the hell is wrong with these people? How is it possible that so many otherwise normal intelligent human beings can allow pure evil to not only exist but thrive in their sphere of influence?
40 counts of sexual abuse including anal rape, forced oral sex and other deviant behaviors were allowed to continue because the people who could stop it chose not to.
Multiple innocent women verbally abused, derided and threatened because they spoke out against sexual harassment.
Millions of decent hardworking people out of work.
Millions losing their homes.
Families disintegrating.
The “American Dream” no longer metaphor.
What do all of these horrors have in common? Money and Power.
As time permits in the coming months weeks and years, I will be focusing this area of cure4apathy to point out the similarities which all too often identify these tragedies as being totally avoidable, eminently knowable and the result of the rich and powerful attempting to get more rich and powerful with total disregard for their fellow citizens. I hope you will join me both as a contributor, commentator and activist. Togetherness is the only power we have that can combat what is going down. @roxntreez
